RAK mixed open - big success
Al Hamra Golf Club hosted eighty UAE couples on the first weekend in May when the club held the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah's second Mixed Open.
With the rising mercury and one of the most humid day's of the year many pairs found Al Hamra's 'amen corner' just that little bit too tough - hole 10 at 443 yards did the most damage whilst the 443 yard 12th also had it's fair share of casualties.
But not so for the gross winning pair of Ashley Anderson and Tony Azoulay who returned two fine rounds of 73 and 78 for a 151 total beating Eric Koeman and Sandra Grenet into second spot and Alistair and Kathleen Taylor into third.
In the Net division it was an Al Hamra clean sweep with Philip and Karen Mallinson taking 3rd, Vicki and Barry Rogers 2nd and defending champions Angelo and Rae Kondes retaining their title with rounds of 69 and 65 for a 134 total.
RAK Ceramics provided ceramic trophy's to the winners who all agreed that Al Hamra has firmly positioned itself as a premier club in the UAE by hosting all of Ras Al Khaimah's Open Tournaments for Men, Ladies, Juniors and Couples.
